School Suite case study 1

Teaching more than a thousand pupils, Gumley House Roman Catholic Convent School is a well respected secondary school and sixth form in Isleworth, Middlesex.

Ofsted reports above average attainment, high standards across the board and innovative use of computer technology.

To support this ICT provision, Gumley House needed a control system which would manage their network and multimedia equipment and enable increased autonomy at teacher level. It also had to handle the school's legacy of hardware and software, including 250 workstations running Windows 98 and XP operating systems, organised into several classroom suites.

Head of information technology Andrew MacDonald-Brown found the solution when he learned of School Suite by email prior to the BETT2002 show. An on-site demonstration proved that the system could easily integrate into Gumley House's existing network while providing all the flexibility and security the school required.

Andrew then spoke to a number of existing School Suite users. He was impressed by the reports they gave of the efficacy of the system and of the high levels of training and support they'd received. Gumley House decided to implement School Suite throughout their ICT network during the summer vacation.

The installation was flawless. "I have been especially impressed by the supporting technicians," Andrew says, "Who have been wholly committed and dedicated to ensuring the adoption process went smoothly."
